Blue Suede News - Short Stories Tall Tales

Treetops is a buddy, and he's produced a fine country blues record here, with some tracks just solo and others featuring a small band. All of it sounds good, but especially the band tracks. Bass by David E. Hays, drums by Jim Piano and violin by Jon-Luc Parry (I think this could be the same John Ferry who played with Goose Creek Symphony and other bands around here) - plus Treetops' National steel slide guitar (and electric guitar on one, and the cover photo) and pickin' really a nice mix! Half the tunes are original, and half are old chestnuts like "I Can't Be Satisfied", "Baby Please Don't Go", and the more obscure "Old Devil", written by one of the Chatmon brothers. I can't figure out why Daddy doubled his vocals on 'Silly Me", but maybe I need to look at the song title one more time.
