The R-1 Band was founded in 2004 by Jesse Gallaher, a singer/songwriter, keyboardist, who has created songs with a multi-genre blend of blues, reggae, and hip hop. The pieces speak of global unity, out reach to community, and the love and strife of life in general. Prior to founding the R-1 Band, Mr. Gallaher has performed with the’Ros Bongo’ Reggae Band, and others, playing at Seattle area venues, and in and around the greater Northwest. He has also played for the non profit Seattle based organization ‘Mission, Music and Healing’. The band has performed at many of Seattle's local pubs, including Seven Seas, Murphy’s Pub, and The China Clipper. The group has also played for many community events and fund raising efforts, including an event at the Westlake Mall to raise funds for the Salvation Army in their out reach to Hurricane Katrina Survivors. Coleman Brown, a legendary guitarist, with a Hendrix flair, has graced the group with his one of a kind style that enhances every song with his unique arrangements. A long time founding member of the Northwest group ‘Septimus’ very active in the Northwest club scene, and a family affair. The strong back beat for the band is provided by Seattle's own ‘Abdulla’, a premier drum aficionado, and founding member of Seattle's band ‘Straight Ahead’. The hip hop lyricists, Charles Joiner and Jason Hendrix add original rhythmic and thought provoking rhyme to these multi-genre very self styled pieces. Mr. Joiner aka ‘The Pizza Man’, has recorded a variety of his own hip hop music, available on a variety of CD’s he has recorded in the past few years. Booking/Info: Sue Gallaher Mgr. |
