What ever happened to the Peace Movement?, Did you ever wonder what ever happened to the flower children, the peace movement, and the spirit of great songs like "Give Peace a Chance?" Well it's alive and well, with a "New Age" twist, in one of music's fastest exploding trend setting cities....Seattle.
The movement is alive and well with Seattle Peace Concerts which has been growing steadily, and not so quietly, over the last twenty three years. It has built into what has become a "Peace Wave" of free summer park concerts, year after year, peace by peace, and wave after wave. These concerts feature a new dimension of music inspiring peace and positive values that celebrate life.
Seattle Peace Concerts is an established "Happening" in city parks throughout the whole summer. Free summer park concerts would be unheard of in many cities now-a-days, because of the problems associated with them, but there's something different about these gatherings. The spirit of celebration and cooperation is evident. Children play in the parks while their parents enjoy music in the fresh air. The music reflects the diversity of Seattle, spanning musical styles from Folk-Rock,Reggae, and R&B to Jazz and Alternative Contemporary. The crowd is as unique and diverse as the music. There seems to be a conscious respect shown by concert goers to keep the parks clean and the atmosphere safe.
Some of the hottest music performed at the Peace Concerts is represented here in this Double CD release. It captures the same spirit and power of Love, Peace, and Rock"n"Roll that flowered in the 60's 70's and has now grown to become the rising wave into the new milinium. Now's the time, We are One... remember? So it's appropriate that this Seattle Peace Concert's compilation album and title song should be named the "PEACE WAVE". Enjoy!
