The band was originally formed in April of 2000 when schoolmates Jaberille Wiiliams and Ben Edlun met and together began jamming. They experimented with many combinations of musicians, which led to formation of the band currently known as The Collective.
The band's well-suited name is a reflection of the many incarnations they have experienced while playing with a vast variety of musicians. The Collective's format is reminiscent of the blues generation in which each man was his own band, contributing his part to every song. Thus, the continuos restructuring and the utilization of guest musicians allow them to explore many musical styles as well as keeping the sound fresh and original.
The Collective's sound is a guitar driven blend of rock, blues, funk and experimental, backed by a stellar rhythm section. Each musician adds his own personal flavor to the music whether it is an original piece, an old standard, or a lively improvisationaljam. The Collective definitely makes each song their own with their keen sense of musicianship and mastery of their instruments. Their chemistry is electnifying.
The Collective has thus far played The Seattle Peace Concerts, The Seattle Mojo Festival, The Arlington Garlic Festival, Gibson's Bar and Grill and a handful of local jam sessions, private parties, and events.
The core members of The Collective are Jaberille Williams - guitar and vocals, Ben Edlun - drums and percussion, and Forrest McPeak - bass
